Yovela Debesay is a first year graduate student at the George Washington Elliott School of International Affairs, earning her Masters in International Development with a thematic focus of economic development and regional focus of Sub-Saharan Africa. She is a Program Fellow for the upcoming Africa Program here at Onero. She has a particular interest in analyzing the intersectionality of global affairs and politics with economic development towards furthering the sustainable growth of the developing world.

She was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, but her family is originally from Eritrea. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, reading books, and enjoying the outdoors.
