October 9th, 2024 Bi-Weekly Update

Thought Bubble for the Week:

It’s been a very strong start to Onero October. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our new member onboarding at GW yesterday and help make our incoming colleagues feel right at home in our organization. As of now, we have brought on 23 new high-quality members this fall, all of whom will help strengthen their teams, their chapter, and all of Onero in the process. And while fall recruitment at GW has come to a close, we look forward to welcoming more new members at Tufts in the next week and possibly on other campuses as the semester carries on. We also kicked this month off with an event with the French Ambassador to the U.S., the release of our brand-new internal website, exclusively for members, and the launch of a strategic planning process led by our LACP Co-Director, Eduardo Soltero. Finally, we are excited to announce that the 2024 Onero Gala and Bridge Award ceremony will now take place on November 17. Make sure to save the date and read ahead to catch up on all things Onero. Thank you for all that you do!

With deep appreciation,
Elad and Andrew

Around the Organization:

Internal Website Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our INTERNAL ONERO WEBSITE!! This webpage is for all current active Onero members to access important internal information, including announcements, the member guide, team handbooks, and important forms. The internal website is your one-stop shop for all things Onero and will be a great place to start for our new members. Check it out and let us know if you have any questions! Be sure to save the URL (www.oneroinstitute.org/onero-internal) for future use. The link will always be available in our email updates as well.

New Members
New member? Make sure you have filled out the onboarding form so we can add you to our communication channels and database. This form is also available on our internal website.

Member Profile
All members are required to fill out the Onero Member Profile. This form will help us understand the interests and roles of members, as well as get some overall data about demographics and your goals within Onero. This is also a great opportunity for you to voice any questions or concerns you have for us!

What's on this month?
View our internal calendar created and updated by Grace Truong! We are in the process of moving from our old calendar system to a new one which will be visible on the internal page!

Recap of Some Events This Last Week:

Recruitment & Prospects for Onboarding
Thanks to everyone who helped with recruitment at GW this semester! We had over 20 new members join our membership and a great turnout for onboarding at GW’s campus. As we finish up recruitment and begin onboarding at Tufts, we ask that our team leaders (and everyone else!) keep up the great work, giving all our new members a warm welcome. Big thanks to Analys Barinaga and Belsem Aljobory on their hard work running recruitment this semester. Let’s keep showing up for one another and show everyone what Onero is all about!

OERP Event Shoutout
Last week, the Onero Institute had the privilege of co-hosting a conversation with French Ambassador Laurent Bili alongside the Elliott School of International Affairs. The event mostly focused on France's position regarding the crisis in Armenia and Lebanon, in which France has historical ties. Additionally, the discussion touched on France's position in the war in Ukraine and the shift towards more intense Eastern European tensions with Russia. The Ambassador also discussed France's role in the EU and NATO, as well as France's approach to the U.S. with the looming presidential election in November.

One of our Onero members, Luca Guerzoni, had the chance to speak with the French Ambassador to the United States in a private setting 30 minutes prior to the meeting with Professor Lagadec. Also in attendance was the President of GW, Ellen Granberg. Big thanks to Professor Lagadec, who made this event possible. We look forward to more awesome events to come!
