Students to Ambassadors: A Celebration of the US-Mexico Relationship at 200

On March 21, 2023 the Onero Institute was proud to present “Students to Ambassadors - A Celebration of the US-Mexico Relationship at 200.” The event featured a series of panels on the state of the bilateral relationship between the United States and Mexico in its 200th year.

The first panel featured Lila Abed, Deputy Director of the Wilson Center, along with Marijose Martínez Lorenzo, Josué Rivera Rivera, who are former and current students at the Elliott School of International Affairs. The second panel highlighted two former United States ambassadors, Ambassador Earl Anthony (Tony) Wayne and Ambassador John Feely, as well as one former Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Geronimo Gutierrez, and was led by Cecily Fasanella of the Albright Stonebridge Group. Finally, the current Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma, presented a keynote speech regarding past, present and future relations between the two countries.

This event also served as a celebration of Onero’s new Latin America and Caribbean Program, which seeks to study and analyze an extremely important region in global affairs.
